“Take a Hint, Dani Brown”, Talia Hibbert
– The Brown Series #2 –
Release Date: June 23rd
Publisher: Avon
Goodreads Synopsis: Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits—someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom.
When brooding security guard Zafir Ansari rescues Dani from a workplace fire drill gone wrong, it’s an obvious sign: PhD student Dani and ex-rugby player Zaf are destined to sleep together. But before she can explain that fact, a video of the heroic rescue goes viral. Now half the internet is shipping #DrRugbae—and Zaf is begging Dani to play along. Turns out, his sports charity for kids could really use the publicity. Lying to help children? Who on earth would refuse?
Dani’s plan is simple: fake a relationship in public, seduce Zaf behind the scenes. The trouble is, grumpy Zaf’s secretly a hopeless romantic—and he’s determined to corrupt Dani’s stone-cold realism. Before long, he’s tackling her fears into the dirt. But the former sports star has issues of his own, and the walls around his heart are as thick as his… um, thighs.
Suddenly, the easy lay Dani dreamed of is more complex than her thesis. Has her wish backfired? Is her focus being tested? Or is the universe just waiting for her to take a hint?

“Mexican Gothic”, Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Release Date: June 30th
Publisher: Del Rey
Goodreads Synopsis: From the author of Gods of Jade and Shadow comes “a terrifying twist on classic gothic horror” (Kirkus Reviews) set in glamorous 1950s Mexico—“fans of classic novels like Jane Eyre and Rebecca are in for a suspenseful treat” (PopSugar).
After receiving a frantic letter from her newly-wed cousin begging for someone to save her from a mysterious doom, Noemí Taboada heads to High Place, a distant house in the Mexican countryside. She’s not sure what she will find—her cousin’s husband, a handsome Englishman, is a stranger, and Noemí knows little about the region.
Noemí is also an unlikely rescuer: She’s a glamorous debutante, and her chic gowns and perfect red lipstick are more suited for cocktail parties than amateur sleuthing. But she’s also tough and smart, with an indomitable will, and she is not afraid: Not of her cousin’s new husband, who is both menacing and alluring; not of his father, the ancient patriarch who seems to be fascinated by Noemí; and not even of the house itself, which begins to invade Noemi’s dreams with visions of blood and doom.
Her only ally in this inhospitable abode is the family’s youngest son. Shy and gentle, he seems to want to help Noemí, but might also be hiding dark knowledge of his family’s past. For there are many secrets behind the walls of High Place. The family’s once colossal wealth and faded mining empire kept them from prying eyes, but as Noemí digs deeper she unearths stories of violence and madness.
And Noemí, mesmerized by the terrifying yet seductive world of High Place, may soon find it impossible to ever leave this enigmatic house behind.

Goodreads Synopsis: It’s 200 years after Cinderella found her prince, but the fairy tale is over. If a suitable match is not found, the girls not chosen are never heard from again.

At the ball, Sophia makes the desperate decision to flee, and finds herself hiding in Cinderella’s mausoleum. There, she meets Constance, the last known descendant of Cinderella and her step sisters. Together they vow to bring down the king once and for all–and in the process, they learn that there’s more to Cinderella’s story than they ever knew . . .

Cinderella Is Dead sounds SO GOOD! Thank you for sharing these recommendations – adding a few of them to my wish-list!
Thank you so much for your feedback! I’m really excited for “Splinters of Scarlet” and “Cinderella is Dead” as well 🙂
There are so many good books coming out over the next few months! Cinderella is dead is one I’m hoping to read over the next few days as I was lucky enough to get a eARC on Netgalley. I also really want to see what Fable will be like and Girl, Serpent and Thorn. I can’t wait to get my hands on Take a Hint, Dani Brown which I’ve preordered and desperately want. I haven’t heard of some of the others you’ve listed though and they sound just as good so I’ll check them out. Thanks for the great list!
Thank you so much for your comment!!! I’m also super excited for “Cinderella is dead”, the synopsis seems so interesting! However, the one I’m most excited about is “Splinters of Scarlet”. I’m considering pre-order it, I just can’t wait!
