August Reading List (+July Wrap Up)

Happy August everybody!

This month I’ll have no worries (except for my driving exam) so I’m planning on reading as many books as I can.

I love this month’s TBR, especially because I’ll finally get to know the ACOTAR world (A Court Of Thorns And Roses). How awesome!?

Unfortunately, July was not a good month for my readings. From all the books in my July TBR, I only read 3 🙁

Without further due, let’s get into my August Reading List and my July Wrap Up!

Goodreads Synopsis: Feyre’s survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price … (more)

Genre: Fantasy

Goodreads Rating: 4.24

This series was recommended to me by Nikki (Blog: Ugly Duckling Skincare). When I searched for more information, I immediately noticed the amazing reviews ACOTAR has.

I haven’t read fantasy for quite a while, so it will be nice to read something from this genre.

Have you read ACOTAR? If so, did you enjoy it?

Goodreads Synopsis: In One Summer Bill Bryson, one of our greatest and most beloved nonfiction writers, transports readers on a journey back to one amazing season in American life. Genre: Non-Fiction

Goodreads Rating: 4.08

I have no idea how this book came to my bookshelf. I’m not a big fan of non-fiction so I didn’t bought it, and I don’t remeber anyone gifting me the book, But I’m glad I have it.

The Summer of 1927 was full of history so, once I read the synopsis, I became extremely curious about it.

The reviews are amazing, which levels up my expectations. Can’t wait!

Goodreads Synopsis: Four very different people are named in a will. Delia, an opera singer robbed of her voice by illness; George, an idealistic scientist who cannot face what his skills have created; Marjorie, desperately poor and unable to dislodge her writer’s block; and Lucius, ostensibly in control but whose personal life is in chaos. All are summoned to the Villa Dante, home of the late Beatrice Malaspina. But who was she?

While they wait to find out, the villa begins to work its seductive magic. With its faded frescoes, overgrown garden and magnificent mediaeval tower, it is unlike anywhere they have been before. Slowly, four characters who have gone to great lengths to hide their troubles find that change – and even hope – is possible after all. But the mysterious Beatrice has a devastating secret to reveal that will affect them all…

Genre: Mystery/Romance

Goodreads Rating: 3.90

I’ve had this book in my bookshelf for ages. I remember how the synopsis hooked me when I bought it. A mix of mystery and romance is what makes my expectations so high and I’m looking forward to starting reading it.

Have you ever heard of this book before?

Goodreads Synopsis: Kyla’s memory has been erased, her personality wiped blank, her memories lost forever.

She’s been Slated.

The government claims she was a terrorist and that they are giving her a second chance – as long as she plays by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?

Genre: Young Adult/Science Fiction

Goodreads Rating: 4.07

The second book of the “Slated” series, “Fractured”, was part of my July TBR. I was convinced I still remembered everything from the first book, which I read a few years ago.

Unfortunately, once I started reading “Fractured” I realized my memory was not so good. So this month I really want to re-read “Slated” so I can go on on the series. 🙂

This book is now a huge success in Spain and Portugal, so I’m hoping it will be translated into English very soon.

If there’s any development about it, I’ll talk about it on my Instagram profile.

Rápida, a Sombra // Vergílio Ferreira

Book recommended by my godmother, a huge fan of Vergílio Ferreira. She describes it as light and sunny reading so I believe this is the perfect time to give it a try 😉
